Group direct investment
Apply for family office capital for a listed strategy: rules, applying, statuses, live trading, and settlement.
Programme overview
Under the US$500M direct investment programme, the Avenir family office invests its own capital in strong strategies that the platform has validated. The PM of a listed strategy can apply for funding. Once the amount is approved, the capital goes into a dedicated sub-account for that strategy and trades live. Carry is settled at exit. See the programme page for the full rules.
Basic rules
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Source of capital | The family office provides 100% of the principal. |
| Carry | A rate of 20%–30%, set at approval and fixed for the life of the program. |
| Losses | No clawback. |
| How carry is calculated | Only on gains above principal, settled once at exit. |
| Amount | No preset amount. The amount you enter is a reference only; the review sets the final amount. |
| Number of programs | Each strategy can have only one open funding program at a time. |
Carry = max(0, capital at exit − principal) × rate. For example: with US$50 million in principal, a US$7.5 million gain at exit, and a 20% rate, the PM receives US$1.5 million in carry.
Process
Get listed → Apply → Complete verification (identity verification for individuals, entity verification for institutions) → Group review and approval → Funding and deployment → Live trading → Exit and settlement.
The version deployed live must be the same version whose backtest was pinned at listing. When running live on the platform, the traded instruments must be on the allowlist.
Why it works this way
- No clawback on losses, carry only on gains above principal: The PM does not bear losses on principal and earns carry only by generating gains for the capital, so both sides' interests are aligned.
- The deployed version must match the listed version: The group's review is based on the backtest pinned at listing, so the version that runs live must be the same one.
Fund safety
- Capital is held by a third-party custodian, in one dedicated sub-account per strategy.
- Sub-accounts have no withdrawal permission. This is checked again before every start, and capital returns to the group only at exit settlement.
- Adding capital requires the PM's confirmation.
- The platform enforces standing risk controls: a per-order limit, a leverage cap, a stop after consecutive failures, and one strategy per account.
Apply for funding
The group sets the final amount and carry rate after its review. The amount you enter is a reference only.
Prerequisites
- The strategy is listed.
- The strategy has no open funding program.
- Individuals have completed identity verification; institutions have completed entity verification. You can also apply first, and the application enters review once verification is approved.
Submit an application
- Open the Listed tab in Certification & Listing and click Apply for group funding on the strategy. You can also start from My Strategies or the strategy detail page.
- Check What this application offers:
- Version the group will run: The version pinned at listing. If it differs from your latest saved version, the page tells you; the group runs the listed version.
- Backtest the group sees: Total return, annualized return, Sharpe, and max drawdown. If the backtest covers less than 1 month or fewer than 5 trades, the page warns that the sample is small.
- Enter Desired amount (USDT). It is required and must be greater than 0. Do not use thousands separators.
- (Optional) Enter a Note (optional), such as recent performance or intended use.
- Submit.
After you submit:
- If you have completed identity verification, you see Application submitted — awaiting the group's review.
- If you have not, you see This application needs basic identity verification before the group can review it. and are taken to the identity verification page. Once you are verified, the application enters review automatically.

| This strategy is not listed yet, so it cannot be funded. | Get listed first. |
| The run pinned at listing no longer exists | Re-list the strategy. |
| The run pinned at listing executed an unsaved draft | Save a version, run the backtest again, then apply for listing again. |

Withdraw an application
In the Applying tab of My Funding, click Withdraw on an application that is Awaiting KYC or Under review.
Funding initiated by the group
The group may also initiate funding for your listed strategy. In that case you do not need to apply. The program appears in My Funding:
- Click Accept: the group can then disburse the funds.
- Click Decline: the program closes and the group does not disburse.
For programs the group initiates, only the group can withdraw them.
Funding status and settlement
My Funding brings together the funding programs for all your strategies. The cards at the top show Funded to date, Current funded principal, Realized gain, and Carry due to you. Once a program reaches the funding stage, click it to open the detail page and see its progress, funding terms, and settlement statement. For details on how the strategy is running, see Live trading.
Program statuses
Programs are grouped by status into four tabs:
| Tab | Statuses included |
|---|---|
| Applying | Awaiting KYC (shows Verification under review once you have submitted verification, and Verification failed if it was finally rejected), Under review |
| In progress | Approved · provisioning, Provisioning, Awaiting start, Configuring, Running, Paused, Exiting, Settling. If a start fails, the program shows Start unsuccessful or Setup incomplete; the group restarts it, and you do not need to do anything. |
| Settled | Closed |
| Not started | Rejected (shows the reason; you can apply again), Cancelled, with how it ended, for example: You withdrew the application, The group withdrew its approval, You declined the funding |
The Progress bar on the detail page shows where the program is: Approved → Funded → Trading → Settling → Closed.
Additional funding
While a program is Awaiting start or Running, the group may propose adding capital. In the In progress tab, click Accept or Decline. The carry rate stays the same after capital is added.
Settlement
When the group starts an exit, the strategy stops trading, positions are closed, and the capital is returned. The settlement statement on the funding detail page lists:
| Item | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Principal | The amount funded. |
| Returned | The capital returned at exit. |
| Strategy gain | Returned − Principal. |
| Carry owed | max(0, Strategy gain) × carry rate. If it is unpaid or waived, this is noted after the amount. |
Once the group confirms the settlement, the program moves to the Settled tab and shows the capital allocated, the settled gain (before carry), Your carry, the amount returned to the group, and the settlement time.
Live trading
Once a program is funded and started, Live Trading in the left navigation lists every deployment that uses real capital. The data comes from the account on the exchange side and is read-only; you cannot place orders or change positions here.
Deployment list
The list has two tabs, Running and Ended. Each row shows the strategy, status, principal, current equity, indicative P&L, and start time.
Indicative P&L = current equity − principal. It is an estimate; the net P&L on the settlement statement is final.
Deployment details
While the strategy is running, click a row to open its detail page:
| Section | Contents |
|---|---|
| Run health | Last run, next run, last signal bar, consecutive failures, and last error. |
| Position | Symbol, side (long, short, or flat; spot can only go long), quantity, average entry price, mark price, market value, liquidation price, distance to liquidation, leverage, and unrealized P&L. |
| Equity curve | How equity has changed since the start. |
| Orders / Trade Log | Every order and every fill. |
After it ends
When a deployment ends, the detail page shows the final result: end time, wind-down status, and whether the settlement statement has been issued. You can view the settlement statement and carry on the funding detail page; see Funding status and settlement.
If the wind-down status says a position is still open, contact operations to check it as the page instructs.
